For sure Darcy misses her dad, and she is suffering the absence of her dad in her life because Darcy was her dad's princess. She is acting as an adult because she doesn't get much attention, and she feels lonely. Nobody is treating her like a little girl since her daddy left home, and now she is taking care of her family especially her grandma and her sibling.
When Darcy's dad left them. Her little sister started to change, and she felt like she have to care of her sister because mom is too busy now for her to take care of her family. However, she can't handle everything and she tries to get her mother help and she really misses her grandmother.
